Building Safety Consultant - Oxford (Other Locations Considered)

About the Role
As a Building Safety Consultant, you will act as a principal consultant for building regulations compliance, supporting clients across a diverse range of projects. You will ensure designs meet regulations, providing expert guidance to designers and project teams. This role offers a balance of office, home, and site work, with responsibilities split across compliance tracking, design team meetings, and occasional site visits.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct plan checks and maintain compliance trackers, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Lead discussions with designers and project managers to resolve compliance queries and ensure designs are fully compliant.
  • Support design teams through design review meetings and maintain regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Visit project sites to verify that construction aligns with approved designs.
  • Work on multiple projects, with up to 10 projects at any one time.
  • Act as a compliance expert for various frameworks, including education, defence, and commercial projects (you will not be working on High Rise Building Projects)
  • Provide technical expertise to support and upskill building surveyors on complex projects.


Requirements

  • Accredited Building Inspector with relevant qualifications (Class 2, 3 or 4)
  • Demonstrated experience in building regulations compliance and working within a Principal Designer framework.
  • Strong understanding of compliance processes, particularly within non-high-rise building projects.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to work across office, home, and site environments.
  • Willingness to mentor and upskill junior staff and support the team with challenging technical queries.
