An contractor in Kent is seeking a Commercial Manager to manage a dynamic and growing team in their infrastructure division. As the Commercial manager, you will be reporting into the Group Commercial Director and the Infrastructure Operations Director, also being responsible for achieving efficient operational and financial management of civil engineering projects.
They are a growing business, turning over a few hundred million pounds every year, operating mostly in the south of England. Their clients range from international organisations to privately funded business, excelling their competition by mostly winning contracts from repeat business. They are also an employee friendly business having kept their traditional family-orientated management style to foster a collaborative approach to their employees relationships within the business - this is proven as their employee retention rate is second to none!
Role and responsibilities:
Maintain effective communications with the Group Commercial Director, Operations Manager, project management and other associated disciplines
Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract evaluation and input to subcontract documents
Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants and monitor their accounts
Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract evaluation and input to contract documentation
Ensure the production of monthly CVRs, quarterly forecasts and company tied costs
Obtain cash-flow information and present all reports
Provide input to dispute identification and management
Provide commercial input to contacts with clients, and if necessary, client's representatives
Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions / reviews
Carry out sub-contract document evaluation and input to sub-contract documentation
Provide input into the preconstruction phase of projects by agreeing final settlement on tenders
Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business

A degree in quantity surveying and/or commercial management
A full UK driving license
The ability to show previous experience gained in a similar role
